The course assignments were comprised of two parts: research document and inhabiting media project. The first informs the second. Step one of part two was to research a time-based system as a site, how it works and where it works spatially. Below is research about the Amtrak system, first as a logistical site plan, then as a graphic catalog of its spatial features.

Step two was to design a prototype to be implemented into the system. We chose a social cause that would help to direct the purpose of the prototype. This prototype is in support of small businesses and artists. My idea is a system of 3 informational advertisement boards. One public board, located in a populated area within the city of an Amtrak train station, in which people could post local small businesses, restaurants, and artist galleries or installations. After being posted to the public board, the information is sent to two advertisement boards; one inside of the train station and another attached to the exterior of the train itself. This information would be available for visitors to see as they are arriving at the location to be able to support these businesses.
Above is step three, the counterscenario for infiltrating the prototype into the system. The juxtaposition here is using a government owned system, like Amtrak, and electronic billboard that would usually have corporate marketing and advertising, and using it to support small businesses and show the diversity of the locale.
Step four was to show how this prototype would inhabit media and the scenarios that it would be found it. Above we can see it implemented in New York, with boards in Bryant Park and Moynihan train station, as well as Philadelphia in Rittenhouse Square Park and 33rd Street Station.
